About Trey Gowdy
Trey Gowdy is a popular American TV personality. In the past, he has served as a federal prosecutor and also as a politician. He served as a U.S. representative for South Carolina’s fourth congressional district between 2011 and 2019. However, in 2018 Howdy noted that he was not going to seek re-election. He noted that he was interested in pursuing his legal career and therefore was abandoning his political one.

Early life
Gowdy was born in 1964 in South Carolina. He was the son of Novalene Evans and Harold Watson Gowdy Jr. As a young man, he lived in Spartanburg where he was delivering newspapers to the local community market. In 1986 he graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In 1989 he was awarded a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina.
Relationship/ Family
Gowdy has had a very quiet relationship and family life. He is married to Terri Dillard, who is a former Miss Spartanburg. She was also a 2nd runner up when she contested for Miss South Carolina. Currently, she is a teacher. Together the two have two kids, Abigail and Watson.
Trey Gowdy’s Career
In his legal career, Trey has worked as a judicial clerk for John P. Gardner. He also worked for Judge George Ross Anderson of the District Court in South Carolina. After that, he opted for private practice working at Nelson Mullins, Riley and Scarborough in South Carolina. He was then appointed as an assistant attorney in 1994. In 2000 he became a 7th circuit solicitor and prosecuted several criminals including 7 death sentences.
In 2015 Donald Trump stated that Gowdy would make a good Attorney General. However, Gowdy went on to endorse Trump’s competitor Marco Rubio, therefore, straining his relationship with Trump. However, after Rubio withdrew from the race Gowdy went on to endorse Trump. In 2017 he was the acting chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi. He was however fired for not concentrating on investigating Hilary Clinton, a charge which was later dropped.

Trey Gowdy is estimated to be worth $4.5 m. In the past, he has been named among some of the richest congressmen.
